The Famous Patton Speech

Part I contains the first (roughly)two pages are devoted to background on Patton’s famous predeliction towards eloquent profanity, then it summarizes how the authour discovered a rare copy of the speech. This copy and many other sources were used [he gave this speech several times with some differences apparently] to reconstruct the address that Patton gave to the Third Army on June 5th, 1944 the eve of the invasion of Normandy on June 6th, 1944.

Part II contains the remaining(roughly) three pages are devoted to the speech itself, with some notes interspersed throughout.

It is a work of art and it seems unlikely that an American general will speak this way again on the eve of an invasion. It may be unlikely that another Patton will come along in the near future as well.
